Aussie Helpers Charity

We can win the war against the worst drought in over 100 years with your support.

Since Aussie Helpers aired on “Australian Story” on the 26 March, 2007, the nation began opening their hearts to this worthy charity. It was this program that brought the reality of the current crisis in rural Australia to the lounge rooms of the urban areas.

Brian’s story brought to many drought affected families some hope, somewhere to turn.

Whilst the donations poured in, so have the calls for help. This has resulted in Aussie Helpers going national, with volunteers now working in every state in Australia. Aussie Helpers is providing humanity needs for fellow Australian’s – yes, purely Aussies helping Aussies. The charity has given away over a million dollars worth of drought aid, and thanks to the generosity of fellow Australian’s this figure continues to grow.

Whilst the drought affects farmers, it increases the cost of meat, poultry, fruit, vegetables, dairy products and grain. Aussie Helpers now has the effects of severe flooding in several states and the farmers affected need our ongoing support so if you can help in any way no matter how small everything is greatly appreciated by Aussie Helpers.

Who is Aussie Helpers?

Aussie Helpers is a non-profit charity organisation that supports farmers that are in need during the worst Australian drought in over 100 years. It helps with serious issues such as depression, suicide, the loss of breeding stock, family break up and the general financial strain that is being felt by many of our farmers.

Brian and Nerida Egan established Aussie Helpers on 21 May 2002 to help fight poverty and lift the spirits of those severely affected by drought in the outback. From what they saw around them and what they heard from people in the bush, Brian and Nerida felt that no organisation was doing anything significant to help families suffering the full effects of the worst drought in living history.

Brian, as a veteran of the Indonesian Confrontation and the Vietnam War in the 1960s who lost his own farm in the 1990s from a combination of drought and personal depression, is no stranger to hard times.

Aussie Helpers have some 40 volunteers and mainly work via the ever faithful "Bush Telegraph" to find farming families who are in desperate need of assistance. Aussie Helpers work around three words "care, share, respect" which simply means that Aussie Helpers care about people in need and will share whatever assistance they have available free of charge and will give the recipients the utmost respect and confidentiality.

Aussie Helpers raises all its own funding and is not aligned to any other charity or religious association. Unlike government funded organisations, Aussie Helpers are all unpaid volunteers making a real difference to the lives of real people.

How the donation works?

Donate a small amount each week ( as little as 50c, thats only $25.00 per annum) which will go directly to supporting Aussie farmers in need. All donations are fully tax deductable (total must be over $2.00 per annum). You will be issued with a receipt at the end of each financial year. Every cent donated goes directly to farmers in need. A little of the money you save by supporting Australian produce can be used to help our Australian Farmers!

Note: You can stop your donation anytime!
